Sen.
Rick Scott (R-Fla.) argued that government intervention drives up costs for Americans, calling for fewer regulations, lower taxes and a greater reliance on free-market solutions to make everyday expenses more affordable.
Scott Pushes For Less Government On Tuesday, in a post on X, Scott criticized government involvement in the economy, sharing a video clip of himself arguing that government policies often increase prices instead of solving affordability challenges.
"Everything the government touches becomes unaffordable," Scott wrote.
He added, "Government needs to get out of the way so hardworking Americans can keep more of their hard-earned money & prices can come down." In the video, Scott pointed to housing, college tuition, and health care as examples in which he believes government involvement has contributed to rising costs.
