MANILA, Philippines – Filipino documentary lovers will get a chance to watch one of the world’s most acclaimed nonfiction films.
Mr. Nobody Against Putin, winner of the 2026 Academy Award for Best Documentary Feature, will be screened on Saturday, July 25, at SinePop in Cubao, Quezon City.
The film follows Pavel “Pasha” Talankin, a primary school teacher and school videographer in a mining town in Russia’s Ural Mountains.
As pressure mounts on schools to promote state narratives and encourage students to support Russia’s war against Ukraine, Talankin quietly begins documenting what unfolds behind classroom doors. At great personal risk, he captures the everyday realities of educators and children navigating an increasingly politicized education system.
