Two fathers recount their painful journeys through custody battles.

TWO fathers recount their painful journeys through custody battles, revealing the emotional and financial toll of being denied access to their children amid allegations of domestic violence and legal battles.

A 52-year-old father from Johannesburg said he had been fighting to be part of his daughter's life for the past eight years.

He said the last time he had contact with his daughter, 12, was when she was four years old.

“My soul is torn apart. When my child was with me, I slept peacefully at night. Now, I wake up every night in tears. I cannot focus on anything else, and if I do try to keep my mind occupied, I am instantly taken back to thoughts of my child and her being without a father.”
