A chilling detail emerged as musician D4vd appeared in court for the first day of his preliminary hearing Tuesday, July 21, in the murder case of 14-year-old Celeste Rivas Hernandez. Prosecutors revealed that D4vd, whose real name is David Anthony Burke, still had the victim's name tattooed on his left ring finger when he was booked into jail.Burke is charged with murdering Hernandez, continuously sexually abusing her when she was under 14, and mutilating her human remains, which were discovered in the front-facing trunk of his black Tesla at a city-owned impound lot in 2025. He has pleaded not guilty and remains in custody.Matching tattoos presented as evidenceAs prosecutors laid out evidence in court, they pointed to tattoos shared by both Burke and Hernandez. According to Courthouse News, a photograph shown during the hearing revealed a close-up of a tattoo on the inside of Hernandez's right index finger reading, "Shhh…"The outlet reported that the ring and pinky fingers on her left hand had been removed and have never been recovered. On the inside of his left ring finger, he had a tattoo written in red ink: 'Celeste.'"Graphic evidence shown in courtProsecutors also presented graphic photographs as part of their case. According to the outlet, they introduced "gruesome photos of a bloody head and torso, its limbs removed, lying inside a long black body bag. Underneath that was a more conventional garbage bag containing severed arms and legs."Authorities allege Hernandez's remains were later discovered inside Burke's black Tesla after it had been taken to a city-owned impound lot.Questions remain over alleged purchasesThe hearing also focused on items prosecutors say Burke purchased while allegedly disposing of Hernandez's body. The outlet reported prosecutors claim the musician used online shopping services, including Amazon and Uber Eats, to order "two chainsaws, another saw, a burn cage, a fireproof mat, a shovel, a spade, two cadaver bags and the inflatable pool."Burke has pleaded not guilty to all charges. The preliminary hearing is continuing as prosecutors present evidence supporting the case.
