Berlin-based multimodal travel platform Omio has secured a $10 million strategic investment from Granite-Integral to accelerate growth across Japan and Southeast Asia.

The funding will strengthen Omio’s AI technology hub in Singapore, expand regional transport partnerships, and simplify cross-border travel across multiple transport modes.

The investment comes the same week Omio agreed to acquire Rail Europe, a deal the company says would create a combined group selling more than 22 million rail tickets a year across 28,000 transport operators and travel sellers.

During a backpacking trip across Europe in 2010, Indian-born entrepreneur and Harvard Business School graduate Naren Shaam found it difficult to plan and book journeys involving trains and buses across different countries.

Frustrated by fragmented transport systems, he quit his finance job in New York, moved to Berlin’s startup ecosystem, and founded GoEuro in 2013 to bring rail, bus, and flight bookings into a single platform. As the company expanded beyond Europe, GoEuro rebranded to Omio in 2019.
