President Bola Tinubu has congratulated the newly inaugurated Prime Minister of the United Kingdom, Andy Burnham, on his assumption of office, expressing optimism that Nigeria and the UK would deepen their longstanding strategic partnership under the new administration.
Tinubu also congratulated the Government and people of the United Kingdom for what he described as a peaceful, orderly and seamless leadership transition, saying it reflected the strength of the country’s democratic institutions and constitutional tradition.
The President’s message was contained in a statement issued on Tuesday by the spokesperson for the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Kimiebi Ebienfa.
According to the statement, Tinubu recalled his productive engagement with the immediate past British Prime Minister Keir Starmer during his official visit to the UK in March 2026 and expressed confidence that Burnham would consolidate the achievements of that visit.
