Saudi-led coalition forces in Yemen have declared that Houthi threats against ships transiting the Bab al-Mandab Strait at the southern end of the Red Sea "will be dealt with swiftly and firmly" and that they are already taking measures to protect vessels transiting the waterway.

The Bab al-Mandeb strait has been the main outlet for Saudi oil exports since the Mideast conflict erupted earlier this year, but it too is under threat now.
