Development stage nuclear fuels company Quantum Leap Energy (QLE) has signed a research agreement with the Texas A&M University Engineering Experiment Station (TEES) to advance and derisk the commercial production of high-purity uranium hexafluoride (UF6), which is a critical feedstock in the existing nuclear fuel enrichment supply chain.

This agreement reflects the growing momentum across Texas' nuclear industry and highlights the value of collaboration in strengthening the domestic US nuclear fuel supply chain.

QLE is a subsidiary of JSE- and Nasdaq-listed advanced materials and isotope enrichment company ASP Isotopes (ASPI). QLE is dedicated to advancing innovative technologies and processes across critical segments of the fission and fusion nuclear fuel cycle.

“This collaboration represents an important step toward building a more resilient and scalable nuclear fuel supply chain,” says QLE CEO Dr Ryno Pretorius.

“Uranium conversion is a critical link in the nuclear fuel cycle used throughout most of the world, transforming yellowcake into uranium hexafluoride, the feedstock required for uranium enrichment.
