Russian forces have carried out another attack on the Ukrainian city of Zaporizhzhia using guided aerial bombs, killing three people and injuring 13 others, according to local authorities.
Ivan Fedorov, head of the Zaporizhzhia Regional Military Administration, said Russian strikes hit residential areas of the city. The attack damaged apartment buildings and non-residential facilities, while fires broke out at several locations. Emergency crews, medical teams and rescue workers were sent to the affected areas, with operations continuing as authorities assessed the full extent of the damage.
Initial reports indicated that one person had been killed and another injured. The number of casualties later increased as rescue efforts continued. Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy said the attack had hit a regular residential building, with apartments from the ground floor to the sixth floor engulfed in flames.
"Tragically, as of now, two people are confirmed dead. My condolences to their families and loved ones. There are reports of injuries," Zelenskyy said.
Later, Fedorov confirmed that the death toll had risen to three. He said the victims included a 67-year-old woman and two men aged 62 and 49. Thirteen injured people are receiving medical treatment, according to local authorities.
