DraftKings has begun offering multi-state internet poker across Michigan, Pennsylvania and New Jersey, the Michigan Gaming Control Board (MGCB) confirmed last Monday.The MGCB said the operator launched the cross-border service on 8 July, after regulators concluded a review that found DraftKings met all the requirements needed to run multi-state poker in Michigan. The operator already runs online sportsbooks and online casinos platforms in the respective states.In the state, the DraftKings platform operates through a partnership with the Bay Mills Indian Community, a federally recognised tribe that serves as its Michigan operator partner for the poker product.Henry Williams, the MGCB's executive director, said: "This approval reflects the strength of our partnership with Bay Mills Indian Community and the thoroughness of our regulatory process. As Michigan's multistate poker network continues to grow, we remain focused on ensuring every operator meets the same high bar for fairness, security, and player protection."The launch builds on Michigan's participation in the Multi-State Internet Gaming Agreement (MSIGA), a cross-state agreement that allows online poker operators in member states to pool players into shared games, rather than restricting them to opponents within their own state lines. Michigan joined the agreement in 2022, several years after it was first established. The agreement's other members are Delaware, Nevada, New Jersey, Pennsylvania and West Virginia.Before Michigan signed on to the MSIGA, online poker players in the state could only be matched against others physically located there — a restriction that shrank the pool of available games and made it harder for platforms to sustain the busy tables in Michigan.DraftKings promos are already active in the respective regions for both sportsbook promos and casino bonuses.
