Jeff Romance / Imagn ImagesJuly 21, 2026 Updated 12:08 pm EDTThe Miami Dolphins and linebacker Jordyn Brooks have agreed to a three-year, $51.3 million contract extension, a league source who was granted anonymity because the terms were not announced publicly confirmed Tuesday.The deal’s $17.1 million annual average ranks fifth in the NFL among off-ball linebackers.Brooks, 28, is coming off his first All-Pro season, during which he led the league in solo (99) and total tackles (183, including 13 for a loss) and recorded 3.5 sacks. He was set to enter the final season of a three-year, $26.3 million deal signed with the Dolphins in 2024. Brooks has led Miami in tackles in both of his seasons in South Florida.
A first-round pick out of Texas Tech by the Seahawks in 2020, Brooks spent his first four NFL seasons with Seattle. In his second season, he broke the franchise record for the most tackles in a season with 184, and his 109 solo tackles led the NFL. The Seahawks declined to pick up the fifth-year option of his rookie contract, and he left in free agency in March 2024.Brooks has amassed 100 combined tackles in each of the past five seasons. With 839 career tackles, he is the fifth NFL player since 2000 to eclipse the 800 mark in his first six seasons.Brooks joins running back De’Von Achane (four years, $64 million) and center Aaron Brewer (three years, $52.5 million) as Dolphins players to sign lucrative extensions this offseason under new general manager Jon Eric Sullivan.
