Export orders last month rose 59.4 percent year-on-year to US$95.26 billion, the 17th consecutive month of increases and the highest monthly level on record, the Ministry of Economic Affairs said yesterday.The rise accelerated from the 47.2 percent annual increase in May and exceeded the ministry’s forecast of a 49.8 to 53.1 percent increase last month.Export orders — including orders received by Taiwanese firms and produced domestically or abroad — are an indicator of product and component shipments to overseas markets over the next one to three months. Last month, 47.1 percent of all orders received by firms were produced overseas, up 0.8 percentage points from a year earlier, the ministry said in a report.
