The streamer chases $3bn in ad revenue this year, powered by live sport and easier programmatic access.

Netflix's advertising business is still small next to the rest of the company, but the numbers in its latest shareholder letter show where the effort is going. In its Q2 2026 report, the streamer confirmed it remains on track to hit roughly $3bn in ad revenue for the year, about double the 2025 level.

Q2 revenue came in at $12.56bn, up 13.4% year over year. Netflix issued softer-than-expected Q3 guidance, projecting revenue of $12.86bn, and narrowed its full-year 2026 forecast to $51.0-$51.4bn. Shares fell more than 8% in after-hours trading, extending to an 11% drop at market open, as investors zeroed in on the Q3 shortfall.
