AIADMK did not accept DMK’s ‘offer of support’ to form government, says former Minister

Former Minister for School Education and AIADMK’s newly-appointed organisation secretary K. Pandiarajan on Tuesday contended that his party did not accept the “offer of support” by the DMK for government formation immediately after the Assembly poll last May. Quoting AIADMK general secretary Edappadi K. Palaniswami, the former Minister told reporters in Villivakkam that though the matter had been raised at a meeting of the legislators, no one spoke in favour of the proposal. “Those who want to leave the organisation are using this controversy, which is a rumour, as a pretext to quit,” Mr. Pandiarajan said, replying to journalists’ questions about the claim by rebels that Mr. Palaniswami had sought to form an alliance with the DMK.
