Oscilloscope Laboratories has acquired the North American rights to “Objet a,” ahead of its world premiere in the international competition at the 2026 Locarno Film Festival. The film is written and directed by Ann Oren and co-written by Geoffroy Grison.
The acquisition marks the second collaboration between Oscilloscope and Oren, following the U.S. release of her critically acclaimed debut feature, “Piaffe,” in 2023. The film stars Aenne Schwarz (“All is Well”), Louis Hofmann (“Dark”), Simone Bucio (“Piaffe”), and Georg Friedrich (“Bright Nights”).
According to the official logline: “Ingeborg and Adam are visionary hand surgeons bound by love, control and irresistible fixations. She is compelled to steal objects; he longs to become one. When an accident brings the enigmatic Gaia into their lives, unexpected desires begin to take shape, unsettling the careful balance that has long defined their relationship.”
“No one is currently making films like Ann Oren,” Aaron Katz, SVP Of acquisitions at Oscilloscope, said in a statement. “She is a visionary artist and ‘Objet a’ feels like a natural progression after ‘Piaffe.’ Connection, objectivity, intimacy, kink, nature, artificiality – this is a mesmerizing film from a singular filmmaker and we’re extremely excited to partner with this team again to bring it to theaters soon.”
