Three flights bound for Vilnius were diverted to other airports Tuesday because of severe weather, including thunderstorms, heavy cloud cover and lightning, airport officials said.
Rūta Asadauskaitė, spokeswoman for Lithuanian Airports, said one flight from Frankfurt was diverted to Riga, while two flights from Heraklion, Greece, were rerouted to Kaunas.
“All three are planning to return to Vilnius,” Asadauskaitė told BNS.
According to Vilnius Airport’s flight schedule, the diverted Frankfurt service, operated by Lufthansa, had been scheduled to land at 12:40 but was delayed by about two hours.
The two flights from Heraklion, operated by Heston Airlines and Airhub Airlines, experienced delays of about one hour and a half.
