Tszyu?The fight is now a middleweight clash at 160 pounds. This started as a 158-pound catchweight and moved up through negotiation, with Spence reportedly the one asking for the higher limit.That is a two-division jump for a man who was undisputed at 147. Spence is now training under Ronnie Shields and has chosen to end a three-year layoff in his opponent's home country, which is not the setup of someone taking a soft touch.Tszyu has never lost in Australia.What's At Stake For Spence And Tszyu?Spence hasn't fought since he was beaten easily by Terence Crawford in July 2023. Spence, 36, is trying to prove he still has something left in the tank and that he is fit to challenge for a world title. He got this fight made at 160 pounds, and it isn't clear whether he plans to campaign there or back at 154. That weight class is packed with sharks like unified champion Jaron "Boots" Ennis and Sebastian Fundora. If Spence can win, he could position himself for a big payday and shot at a title.The same goes for Tszyu whose career was derailed by losses to Fundora (twice) and Bakhram Murtazaliev. If he wins, a shot at IBF champion Josh Kelly seems realistic. To put it plainly, there's a lot on the line for both men.Spence confirmed this comeback in April and has since said publicly that he is already thinking about retirement. Tszyu has won two straight since the Fundora rematch, most recently a decision over Denis Nurja in April.
