Acting Police Minister Professor Firoz Cachalia says the findings, of the disciplinary hearings of two Presidential Protection Services (PPS) members who were implicated in the Phala Phala scandal, were above board.
Acting Police Minister Firoz Cachalia has defended the findings of the disciplinary hearings of two Presidential Protection Services (PPS) members who were implicated in the Phala Phala scandal amid ActionSA threatening to institute a judicial review.
Cachalia said the police investigations into the conduct of PPS head Major-General Wally Rhoode and Constable HH Rikhotso had taken into account the recommendations made by Public Protector Kholeka Gcaleka and the Independent Police Investigative Directorate (IPID).
He made the comment in response to parliamentary questions from ActionSA MP Lerato Ngobeni, who wanted to know what action had been taken against Rhoode and Rikhotso, following the findings of the 2023 IPID investigation.
IPID and Gcaleka probed police conduct in the Phala Phala matter after ATM MP Vuyo Zungula lodged a complaint in July 2022.
