After smashing her own salon, Congolese entrepreneur reveals what led to the dramatic moment.
A Congolese salon owner who destroyed thousands of rands' worth of equipment inside her Melmoth business says she did so after being told she could no longer operate the salon because she was a foreign national.
She has since spoken of the heartbreak she experienced during the confrontation, insisting she is legally living in South Africa and had invested heavily in the business she built.
The woman alleged that a group told her no foreign nationals would be allowed to own salons and that South African entrepreneurs would be taking over the businesses. She said she initially dismissed the comments, believing they would not be acted upon.
"They said no foreigner is allowed to own a salon and that they would come with South African entrepreneurs. I did not take them seriously," she said.
