Two aspiring Kenyan professional footballers have returned home after spending months homeless and penniless in Indonesia after falling victim to a suspected football scam

Brian Andaje and Sunday Majimbo believed they were heading to the Asian country for genuine contract opportunities with professional clubs.

Instead, after arriving, they discovered no clubs were waiting and were left to fend for themselves on the streets.

Their safe return followed a joint intervention by the Indonesian Professional Footballers Association, the Kenya Footballers Welfare Association and the Kenyan Embassy in Jakarta, according to a report published by the International Federation of Professional Footballers on Tuesday.

The case has also renewed warnings about the dangers of fake football agents and unverified recruitment offers targeting African footballers seeking opportunities abroad.
