Multiple sources familiar with the investigation told SaharaReporters that Ajakaiye was invited by the anti-graft agency to its Kaduna office on July 9, where he was interrogated over a series of allegations that have trailed his administration.
The Independent Corrupt Practices and Other Related Offences Commission (ICPC) has questioned the Director-General of the Nigerian Institute for Trypanosomiasis Research (NITR), Dr Joachim Joseph Ajakaiye, over allegations of corruption, abuse of office, financial mismanagement, age falsification and other misconduct, SaharaReporters has learnt.
Multiple sources familiar with the investigation told SaharaReporters that Ajakaiye was invited by the anti-graft agency to its Kaduna office on July 9, where he was interrogated over a series of allegations that have trailed his administration.
According to one of the sources, the questioning forms part of an expanding investigation into alleged financial crimes, abuse of public office and violations of public service rules at the federal research institute.
"I was told ICPC invited him on July 9 to their Kaduna office, where he was questioned over a lot of things. However, when he came back he started boasting as usual," one source told SaharaReporters.
