The first theatrical-released Star Wars movie in seven years swaps the big screen for streaming this week, and it feels particularly appropriate in the case of “The Mandalorian and Grogu.” This feature-length continuation of Disney+’s “The Mandalorian” was criticized for failing to go beyond its TV roots. Instead, the movie feels a whole lot like a handful of episodes stitched together, so if you skipped it in cinemas, it’ll feel right at home on digital.Set between the original and sequel trilogies, “The Mandalorian and Grogu” focuses on the eponymous pair, bounty hunter Din Djarin (Pedro Pascal) and his young ward, Grogu (aka Baby Yoda). The New Republic enlists the duo to rescue Rotta (Jeremy Allen White), the son of former crime boss Jabba the Hutt.
