The Emir of Zuru, Alhaji Muhammadu Sanusi Mika’ilu Sami Gomo III, has described the Kebbi State Government’s free distribution of farming inputs as the most impactful agricultural intervention for farmers in the state in recent years, while calling for a more transparent distribution process.

The traditional ruler made the remarks on Sunday when he received the Kebbi State Governor’s Media Team at his palace in Zuru during an advocacy and assessment tour of Governor Nasir Idris’ administration.

The Emir said the initiative would stimulate the entire agricultural value chain by creating economic opportunities not only for farmers but also for marketers, transporters, agro-processing industries and consumers.

“Considering the large quantity and variety of farm produce being expected, this intervention will go a long way in providing legitimate and beneficial business opportunities for all stakeholders in the agricultural value chain,” he said.

Alhaji Sami Gomo III, however, urged the state government to strengthen the distribution mechanism to ensure the inputs reach the intended beneficiaries without diversion.
