Supporters of leading figures in the All Progressives Congress in Bauchi State have traded words over the credibility of the party’s governorship primary election ahead of the 2027 general elections.
The development follows a call by supporters of the immediate past Minister of Foreign Affairs, Yusuf Tuggar, on the National Chairman of the APC, Prof. Nentawe Yilwatda, to review the process that produced the party’s governorship candidate in the state.
Members of the Ambassador Yusuf Maitama Tuggar Foundation had earlier announced that they had formally petitioned the APC national leadership, challenging the outcome of the primary election.
Speaking at a press conference in Bauchi on Tuesday, the secretary of the foundation, Shehu Barau, questioned the legitimacy of the declaration of former Governor Mohammed Abubakar as the party’s governorship candidate.
