Gunther was part of Maserati MSG Racing until last year, when Cyril Blais was the team principal. The team was renamed Citroen Racing this season, with Blais becoming the team principal, and he witnessed the team secure four podium finishes. He died this week at the age of 46.Maximilian Gunther calls Cyril Blais a real racer in touching noteMaximilian Gunther walked down memory lane and shared some memorable pictures with Cyril Blais on Instagram.He wrote: “RIP Cyril. Devastating news and a huge loss of a true friend. Cyril was an incredibly special person, a wonderful character and real racer, always being immensely professional.”Sharing about his time with Blais, he wrote, “You knew with Cyril that he would always have your back. We achieved great success together and shared many beautiful experiences on and off the track. I‘m grateful to have worked with Cyril for three years. We began our journey together in Formula 2, where he was my chief engineer. Our paths crossed again at Maserati in Formula E, where he was my race engineer and team principal at the same time. Our relationship was built on great trust and we grew very close over the years.”“The moments and memories we created are something I will carry in my heart for the rest of my life. My thoughts are with Cyril’s family and loved ones during this incredibly difficult time. A fan even said, “Without Cyril's contribution, we would've never had Maximilian Gunther today.”Formula E to pay tribute to Cyril Blais at Tokyo E-PrixEarlier in the day, Formula E CEO Jeff Dodds announced in a statement that the series would pay tribute to Cyril Blais at the upcoming Tokyo E-Prix. The Round 14 and Round 15 races will be held this weekend as scheduled. They will be followed by the Season 12 finale in London next month.Many other Formula E drivers and personalities from the motorsport world also condoled the death of the Citroen Racing Team Principal.
