Saudi deputy foreign minister and UK envoy discuss developments in war-torn Sudan
RIYADH: Saudi Arabia’s deputy foreign minister, Waleed Al-Khuraiji, on Monday discussed the latest developments in Sudan with Richard Crowder, head of British Office Sudan and the UK’s special representative to the African country.
Sudan, which a member of the Arab League, has been locked in a civil war between rival military factions the Sudanese Armed Forces and the paramilitary Rapid Support Forces since April 2023. The conflict has claimed the lives of about 150,000 people and left 19.2 million facing severe food insecurity, according to the British Red Cross.
During their meeting, Al-Khuraiji and Crowder also discussed other topics of common interest to Saudi Arabia and the UK.
