Mumbai: Outward foreign direct investment (FDI) commitments fell 48% on-year to $3 billion this June, as per provisional data released by the Reserve Bank of India (RBI). The financial commitment was down from $5.74 billion in June 2025 and lower than the $4.5 billion recorded in May 2026.Equity commitments declined to $738 million in June from $2.2 billion a year earlier and $1.25 billion in May. The RBI said the data are provisional and subject to revision based on final reporting by banks.Outward FDI commitments comprise equity, debt and guarantees, all of which declined during the month. Debt commitments fell to $470 million from $569 million a year earlier and $646 million in May.Guarantees issued by Indian entities to their overseas subsidiaries and ventures declined to $1.78 billion in June from $2.97 billion a year earlier and $2.61 billion in May. The largest FDI equity commitment for the month was ONGC Videsh Rovuma's $40 million investment in its Mozambique venture.

Debt and guarantee issuances by Indian entities overseas also declined during the month. These provisional figures were released by the Reserve Bank of India. ONGC Videsh Rovuma made the largest equity investment in Mozambique.
