The former Take That man was in New Jersey to perform at the closing ceremony and later was interviewed for German TV.‌But the musician's chat brought confusion among viewers and online users after fans speculated what had fallen from his nostril during the conversation.‌Footage showed an unexpected blob land microphone, later in the interview it ended up on his forehead as the singer failed to remove it from his fingers after plucking it from the microphone, and then running his fingers through his hair.‌While many jumped to conclusions about what it could be, the jovial star has now issued an "apology". Posting a video from bed on Instagram, Robbie captioned his upload: "Just woke up and feeling...Mint x."In the clip, Robbie tells his followers: "I'd just like to apologise for the object that fell onto the microphone yesterday. Um, it was deeply unprofessional and people were worried about me but it's okay, because I had several more."‌He stuck his tongue out and laughed as he showed a number of mints on his tongue. Michael Bublé was among those commenting on the post, calling the star a "legend".Robbie was part of the pre-game show in New Jersey as he performed FIFA's theme for the tournament. He took to the stage in a blue tracksuit as he belted out lyrics in alongside Nicole Scherzinger and Italian superstar Laura Pausini to set the scene for a historic occasion.Within minutes of his set getting underway, social media was sharing their thoughts on his performance. "I didn't recognise Robbie Williams," one viewer admitted on X. Another marvelled, "love seeing Robbie Williams."‌And another was stunned by his outfit choice. They wrote: "I'm feeling the @robbiewilliams bedazzled track suit."‌But while Robbie's performance and the build-up were mainly praised, the crowd was divided by the first ever halftime show at the tournament. With an array of huge stars taking turns to entertain the crowd, not everyone was feeling it. The likes of Madonna, Burna Boy, Justin Bieber and even the Muppets performed during the interval. But that wasn't enough to impress Wayne Rooney. The former footballer labelled it "cr**" during his analysis for the BBC. He was talking alongside Joe Hart and Micah Richards and did not hold back when asked for his highlights of the show by presenter Gabby Logan‌“I’ll be honest, mine was when it finished. I like a lot of them artists but I thought it was cr**,” he said."It just didn’t get me going and I wanted the football to come back on. I like Burna Boy, I like Bieber, I like Shakira, but that was too flat.”Micah tried to defend the show and called Rooney “miserable” for his assessment. while Logan added: “I’ll tell you what else you get on the BBC: honest reviews.”Article continues belowLike this story?
