The government on Monday decreased the petrol price by Rs0.35 and increased the price of high-speed diesel by Rs5.71 per litre, to pass on the impact of fluctuating global prices following renewed regional hostilities in the Persian Gulf.

Following the changes, the price of petrol stands at Rs315.80 per litre and that of HSD at Rs360.06.

The Petroleum Division’s press release notifying the increase said the new prices would be effective from July 21 (Tuesday).

The diesel price has come down from a peak of Rs520.35 recorded on April 3. Its price had started rising from Rs281 per litre after the US-Iran war broke out on February 28.
