The Federal Road Safety Corps on Monday launched a special intervention patrol, codenamed “Daidaita Lodi” (Load Limit), to reduce road traffic crashes along the Sokoto-Gusau highway and other major roads across Sokoto, Kebbi and Zamfara states.
The exercise was flagged off by the Zonal Commanding Officer, RS10 Headquarters, Assistant Corps Marshal Shoba Akande, as part of a nationwide special intervention approved by the Corps Marshal, Shehu Mohammed, to address peculiar road safety challenges across the FRSC’s 12 zonal commands.
Speaking during the inauguration in Sokoto, Akande said the operation was designed to reduce road crashes through intensified traffic law enforcement, public enlightenment, stakeholder engagement, rescue preparedness and increased operational visibility.
“The Special Intervention Patrol is being conducted simultaneously across all the 12 Zonal Commands of the Corps to tackle the peculiar road safety challenges within their respective jurisdictions,” he said.
