The Creator was only just included as part of the service a few days ago and has already claimed a spot in the top 10 most watched chart.‌It was co-written and directed by British filmmaker Gareth Edwards. Edwards previously made Monsters as well as 2014's Godzilla reboot and Star Wars spin-off Rogue One.‌Originally released in 2023, it previously debuted on other streaming services including Disney+ but has now found a new home on Netflix. As a result, it should be opened up to a whole new audience.Described in its synopsis as an " epic sci-fi action thriller", the story is set amidst a future war between the human race and the forces of artificial intelligence. The film follows Joshua, a hardened ex-special forces agent grieving the disappearance of his wife.‌He is recruited to hunt down and kill the Creator, the elusive architect of advanced AI who has developed a mysterious weapon with the power to end the war and mankind itself. Joshua and his team of elite operatives journey across enemy lines, into the dark heart of AI-occupied territory... only to discover the world-ending weapon he's been instructed to destroy is an AI in the form of a young child.Tenet actor John David Washington leads the cast alongside Marvel's Eternals star Gemma Chan. Other recognisable MCU stars also feature including Benedict Wong and Ralph Ineson.Many fans praise the film's special effects and visual style with one describing it as 'insane'. They admitted: "I still can’t get over the fact that The Creator reportedly cost only around $80 million. Watching it, you’d easily assume it’s a $150–200M blockbuster. The scale, the world-building, the cinematography, the VFX — everything looks way more expensive than it actually was.‌"Considering how “cheap” it is by modern blockbuster standards, it kind of feels like a small miracle that it looks this good."One viewer even confessed that they were moved to tears after watching.
