Zlatan Ibrahimovic, the studio analyst whose deadpan barbs at Fox Sports colleagues spiced up broadcasts for many fans during the World Cup, has zinged his last zinger, apparently.The former Swedish and Paris Saint-Germain superstar said goodbye to his co-hosts in a gig that “was the first and last time for me.”“I’ve been talking a lot the last one and a half months, but this will be my last words,” he said. He thanked studio mates Alexi Lalas, Thierry Henry and Rebecca Lowe, who he said “made it very easy for me.”After thanking Fox and behind-the-scenes staffers, he said, “I hope, America, you enjoyed it as much as I did. And this is also my farewell to the studio.”“It is?” Lowe interjected. ”It was the first and last time for me. So thank you, everybody.”Ibrahimovic injected playful (or palpable) tension early on when he shot down Lalas’ remark that France could afford to be “arrogant” against first-round victim Senegal.“It’s not arrogance, it’s confidence,” Ibrahimovic said. “Ignorant people will say it’s arrogance. Intelligent people will say it’s confidence.”In a later dig, the former Ligue 1 player of the year zeroed in on Lowe, who was wearing a black dress. “You dressed up like you’re going to a funeral. Alexi is alive, don’t worry,” he cracked.Ibrahimovic also shared video of himself and Henry juggling the ball back and forth in what was perceived as a game of keepaway from Lalas. “The studio will never forget,” Zlatan wrote.He also launched a bevy of one-liners about eliminated teams, including one in which he told his former Swedish national side, “I told you. There is no new Zlatan. You’re out.”And now, Ibrahimovic seems to be out as well ― at least from the broadcast world for the time being.
