LONDON: Asaad Al-Shaibani, the foreign minister of the Syrian Arab Republic, has met Sheikh Jarrah Jaber Al-Ahmad Al-Sabah, his Kuwaiti counterpart, to discuss forming a coordination committee to improve diplomatic, trade, and investment ties between the two countries.
The ministers have agreed to work toward exchanging ambassadors and strengthen ties by establishing a Syrian-Kuwaiti Business Council, according to the Syrian Arab News Agency.
Al-Shaibani condemned Iranian attacks targeting Kuwait and the Gulf Cooperation Council countries following the renewal of hostilities between the US and Iran in early July. He affirmed Syria’s support for Kuwait and respect for its sovereignty.
He also met on Monday Kuwait’s Crown Prince Sheikh Sabah Khaled Al-Hamad Al-Sabah. The meeting, which took place in Kuwait City, focused on the latest regional developments and ongoing efforts to promote security and stability.
Kuwait has been among regional supporters of Syria’s reintegration into the international community following the fall of the Bashar Assad regime in December 2024.
