IndiGo and CFM International have signed a memorandum of understanding for 1,000 plus LEAP-1A engines to power its 510 Airbus A320neo family aircraft.This is the largest single order ever placed for LEAP engines and is a record for CFM International, the engine maker said on Monday.The MoU also includes CFM’s extensive support in establishing IndiGo’s upcoming engine MRO facility and support the airline through long term material services agreement including supply of spare parts ensuring high dispatch reliability and predictable costs.The LEAP engine is one of the two power plant options for Airbus A320neo and Boeing 737 Max planes. For its initial A320neo aircraft order IndiGo had selected Pratt & Whitney engines but has subsequently placed its bet on CFM’s LEAP engines.
