The Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Islamic Republic confirmed on Monday, July 20, that proposals to halt the ongoing hostilities have been submitted to Iran by mediating nations.
According to Iranian media reports, the confirmation came during a press conference by Foreign Ministry spokesperson Esmaeil Baghaei in response to questions regarding reports of a Qatari proposal for a 10-day ceasefire between Iran and the United States.
The Foreign Ministry confirmed that proposals channelled through Pakistan and Qatar, the primary intermediaries handling talks between the Islamic Republic and the US, have been received, though specific details will not be made public at this time.
On Sunday, several media outlets reported on a Qatari-mediated plan proposing a temporary ceasefire between Iran and the United States, alongside a 10-day reopening of the Strait of Hormuz. Qatar’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs also declared its support for all efforts aimed at de-escalating tensions and achieving a comprehensive agreement that fosters lasting peace in the region.
