It prompted Channel 4 to wipe all episodes of the show from its catch-up service and an external review of the welfare of its participants was ordered.At a press briefing given in May, Channel 4 CEO Priya Dogra said she found the accounts "very troubling" but confirmed that a new season of the show had not been axed, contrary to media reports. A decision on whether it will ever air is yet to be announced by the broadcaster.Meanwhile a group of MPs from the House of Commons Culture, Media and Sport Committee had written to Channel 4 and Ofcom about the "horrifying" allegations which were explored in a BBC Panorama documentary."The horrifying allegations about Married at First Sight raise serious concerns over whether enough is being done to protect people taking part in reality television," committee chairwoman Caroline Dinenage MP said. "Both Channel 4 and Ofcom, as the broadcasting regulator, have urgent questions to answer."Broadcasting regulator Ofcom has today (July 20) confirmed it is investigating the programme. An investigation is started if Ofcom believes its codes, rules, licence conditions or other regulatory requirements have been breached.An Ofcom spokesperson confirmed to The Mirror: "We are investigating a Fairness and Privacy complaint about Married At First Sight UK."MAFS UK aired its tenth season in 2025 and sees couples meeting each other for the first time on their wedding day, before jetting off on a honeymoon together and moving into an apartment block shortly after.Over the course of the experiment, the pairs get to meet the other couples taking part in the show as well as the family and friends of their new spouse. They also meet regularly with the panel of relationship experts who matched them in the first place to reflect on how their relationships are progressing.Among the experts on the panel was 54-year-old Mel Schilling who died earlier this year.
