Hindustan ​Petroleum Corp on ​Monday invited liquefied natural ​gas (LNG) suppliers, producers and traders to register to supply LNG on a spot and ‌long-term ⁠basis, according ⁠to a notice on its website.HPCL operates an LNG import and regassification facility at Chhara in western India with annual capacity of 5 million metric tons.Apart from spot ⁠purchases, HPCL ‌is looking to import ​up ​to 1 million tons per ⁠year of LNG for 10 to ​15 years, sources with knowledge ​of the matter said.Also read: Instamart ties up with HPCL to launch India’s first on-demand LPG cylinder delivery on quick commerceHPCL did not respond immediately to an emailed request for comment.India wants to raise the share of ‌gas in its energy mix to 15% from about 6% ​currently ​to cut ⁠its carbon footprint.HPCL also has a 10-year LNG import deal with Abu Dhabi ​National Oil Co for 500,000 tons of LNG every year from 2028. The company also buys LNG through spot tenders.
