JOS — Tension has gripped Gero community in Jos South Local Government Area of Plateau State following the killing of two women by suspected gunmen, an incident that triggered protests by residents on Monday.
The victims were reportedly discovered dead in the early hours of the day in Gero community, located behind the Jos South Local Government Secretariat. The circumstances surrounding the killings remained unclear at the time of filing this report.
The discovery sparked outrage among residents, particularly women and youths, who marched to the local government secretariat carrying the bodies of the deceased to protest the incident and demand urgent action from authorities.
The protesters later blocked parts of the road leading to the secretariat, causing temporary disruption to vehicular movement as they called for improved security measures and justice for the victims.
