Cape Town's iconic Good Hope Centre is up for sale.

Pastor Anoiske of the Spirit Revelation Ecclesia Church has defended their bid for the purchase of the iconic Good Hope Centre in a strongly worded letter written to Mayor Geordin Hill-Lewis.

This follows Hill-Lewis's public statements on live radio, in which he said the church did not have the funds to buy the property, while a second bidder, a mosque, was now on the cards.

Pastor Anoiske, of St John Holdings (Pty) Ltd, together with the New World Faith Ministries, said via the letter shared with the Cape Argus that they were unaware of any official communication from the City confirming the sale.

The pastor said they were ready to seal the deal and made sure they were in a positive position financially to proceed with the sale.
