U.S. stocks settled lower on Friday, with the Dow Jones index dipping more than 400 points during the session.

Major stock benchmarks also recorded weekly losses, with the S&P 500 falling 1.6% and the Nasdaq dipping 2.9%.

The Dow also declined 0.9% last week.
