Colombia stocks rose on Friday, with the MSCI COLCAP index, the country’s main equity benchmark, closing at 2,298.34 points, a gain of 0.58% on the session.
State-controlled oil producer Ecopetrol drove the advance, adding 1.94% to close at COP 2,625.00 as Brent crude held firm, providing a lift to the index’s heaviest constituent.
The Colombian peso firmed slightly, with the USD/COP exchange rate settling at 3,255 pesos per dollar, a dip of 0.09% for the dollar though still near its 52-week floor of 3,231.
Grupo Sura’s ordinary shares rose 1.85% to COP 55,000, making the Medellín-based holding group one of the session’s standout gainers alongside Ecopetrol.
