Theatre on the Square presents 'Words and Nightmares', a new production exploring war, journalism and the emotional impact of telling stories about human conflict.
A new theatre production exploring the emotional impact of war, conflict and storytelling will open at Sandton’s Theatre on the Square later this month.
Words and Nightmares, written and performed by multi award-winning South African theatre maker Seiphemo Motswiri, follows the journey of a journalist compiling stories for a book about geopolitical conflicts.
Directed by award-winning theatre practitioner Themba Mkhoma, the production explores what happens when a journalist becomes deeply immersed in the experiences of the people behind the stories he is documenting.
The play follows the journalist as he is transported into pivotal moments and personal accounts of war victims, forcing him to confront the realities of conflict, death and human suffering.
