An evacuation order was issued for the area surrounding a Coupang logistics center in Incheon as a fire that’s blazed for two days raises concerns over a possible structural collapse. The city’s Seohae District Office issued the evacuation order at around 11 pm on Sunday for an area within a 116-meter radius of the facility’s ramp section, where officials believe structural collapse is possible. The evacuation zone includes commercial buildings and factories located south of the logistics center. Residential neighborhoods, however, are not included in the affected area.“We have confirmed that there are no residential areas within the evacuation zone,” a Seohae District official said.

Local authorities decided to issue the evacuation order after holding an emergency assessment meeting earlier in the day to evaluate the fire and the potential risk of structural failure.Firefighters are focusing on preventing the blaze from spreading further by deploying aerial ladder trucks to areas where the fire remains most intense. Fire engines with pumps have also been positioned near the facility’s entrance and exit ramps to contain the flames. The Incheon Fire Headquarters said it is working closely with structural experts and Coupang officials to assess on-site safety, including the risk of collapse, while continuing firefighting operations.
