Google is months behind schedule in delivering its next AI model, Gemini 3.5 Pro, due to its failure to reach internal expectations, particularly with regard to programming, Bloomberg reported.

The setback has frustrated Google engineers, AI researchers and managers, with many concerned Google will lose its market position as OpenAI and Anthropic produce more powerful models, the report said, citing unnamed people.
