An innovative British aviation business could shift manufacturing abroad as the Government dithers over subsidies, in what would be a major blow to jobs and innovation.
Vertical Aerospace – Europe’s main contender in the global race to develop flying taxis – is planning to build new facilities including a battery ‘gigafactory’ as it ramps up production.
But the company is asking for financial incentives from the Government for the plan, which could deliver two to three thousand jobs and thousands more in the supply chain.
Without them it could be lured overseas, with Germany and Spain understood to have each offered tens of millions of pounds.
Vertical Aerospace is eyeing a move to Germany or Spain if it fails to secure subsidies
