Opposition protests continue in Lok Sabha demanding a discussion on question paper leaks and student protests in Delhi; both Houses see another adjournment and will now reconvene at 12.30 p.m.

Updated - July 20, 2026 12:14 pm IST Parliament’s Monsoon Session began on a rocky note on Monday (July 20, 2026) as both Houses briefly adjourned a few minutes after commencing. Opposition protested in the Lok Sabha demanding a discussion on issues such as question paper leaks and also the Cockroach Janta Party’s protests in Delhi’s Jantar Mantar. In the Rajya Sabha, Leader of Opposition Mallikarjun Kharge raised the issues and said that the government was trying to suppress the protests in Delhi. Ruckus ensued in both Houses and they were adjourned till 12 p.m. However, the Opposition was relentless in their protests upon reconvening and both Houses were again adjourned till 12.30 p.m.Before the session, Prime Minister Narendra Modi addressed the media outside Parliament and called on the Opposition to “wholeheartedly participate in proceedings of Monsoon Session”.As part of their obituary references, both Houses paid tributes to several personalities, including Sheikh Hamad bin Khalifa Al Thani, former ruler of Qatar.Follow here: CJP protest in Delhi LIVE updatesThe Monsoon Session convenes on the day when Delhi’s Jantar Mantar is set to witness the march called by the Cockroach Janta Party (CJP)’s supporters demanding the resignation of Union Education Minister Dharmendra Pradhan.
