Nigeria's anti-narcotics agency, the National Drug Law Enforcement Agency (NDLEA), says it has intercepted two Kano-bound trailers conveying 1.63 million pills of tramadol concealed in specially fabricated compartments, exposing what the agency described as a transnational drug trafficking syndicate operating between Togo, the Benin Republic and Nigeria.
The agency said the intelligence-driven operation led to the arrest of two 22-year-old truck drivers and followed the seizure of another 558,900 tramadol pills from a similarly modified truck intercepted days earlier, linking all three consignments to the same international trafficking network.

According to the agency, the latest operation was part of ongoing efforts to dismantle a cross-border drug trafficking syndicate smuggling tramadol into Nigeria through the Togo-Benin Republic corridor before distributing the narcotics to northern states.
