Radical social media influencer Andrew Tate appeared to try and pass a mobile phone to a member of his entourage as he was arrested over fresh criminal charges in Miami.Tate, 39, was arrested by US Marshals alongside his brother Tristan Tate, 38, on the weekend after UK prosecutors filed a raft of new rape and sex trafficking charges against them.In footage of the arrest, Andrew Tate can be seen attempting to hand his phone to a bearded man next to him before a marshal takes hold of his free arm.The camera pans to show Tristan being led away in handcuffs before going back to his older brother, with what appears to be a mobile phone now seen on the ground near Tate’s foot.Another man who was standing behind Tate appeared to bend down to retrieve something from the ground.There is no suggestion of wrongdoing on behalf of Tate or his team in relation to the phone, and the brothers are not accused of criminal charges in the US.The arrest took place outside the James L Knight Center in downtown Miami, where the Tate brothers were due to host a bare-knuckle boxing event.Prominent “manosphere” influencers the Tate brothers are due to face an extradition hearing on Monday, US time, after the Crown Prosecution Service (CPS) decided to pursue 38 new charges against the pair.They had previously been charged with 21 charges between them, taking their total number of charges to 59 – 42 against Andrew and 17 against Tristan.“We have decided to prosecute Andrew and Tristan Tate for further offences including rape, arranging or facilitating trafficking for sexual exploitation and offences relating to indecent images of a child,” Malcolm McHaffie, head of the CPS Special Crime Division, said in a statement. The allegations, which the brothers deny, date from between July 2010 and August 2017. Prosecutors said the previous charges laid in 2025 related to three victims, and the new charges relate to a further four victims.On Saturday, local time, the brothers’ lawyer Joseph McBride said they were innocent and “will walk free”. “We are confident that once a competent judge sees the facts, and once the Department of Justice confronts this egregious abuse of its own authority, Andrew and Tristan Tate will walk free,” Mr McBride said in a statement.Earlier this year, police in Hertfordshire, north of London, said they were reopening a probe into rape and sexual assault allegations made by women against Andrew Tate between 2014 and 2015. They also faced separate rape and human trafficking allegations brought by different women and investigated by Bedfordshire Police, which covers their home town of Luton.“There is no place for male violence against women and girls, and we will continue to work tirelessly to support victims and investigate all reports made to us,” Bedfordshire Police’s Karena Thomas said. ‘Face justice’The Tate brothers are also accused of tax evasion and money laundering in the UK. They are dual British-US citizens who have been avid supporters of US President Donald Trump.Lawyer Matt Jury, of McCue Jury & Partners who represent four alleged British victims of Andrew Tate, said Tate was “now facing the real prospect of extradition to the UK after years of public campaigning by the four British women I represent”. “They have spent years fighting for action to be taken, and I now urge the authorities to ensure this case proceeds as quickly as possible,” he said, according to the PA news agency.“Andrew and Tristan Tate are accused of some of the most serious offences, including multiple counts of rape and human trafficking. “It is time they face justice.”
