MANILA, Philippines – The Federation of Filipino Chinese Chambers of Commerce and Industry, Inc. (FFCCCII) on Monday condemned an AI-generated video by state-backed China Daily showing the Philippines as a monkey and called for its removal.

In a statement, FFCCCII president Victor Lim said that despite ongoing differences between Manila and Beijing over maritime disputes, publishing a video that targets the “dignity” of an entire country is unjustified.

“No matter how sincere or deeply held the differences between governments on maritime or territorial issues, there can be no justification for depictions that demean the dignity of an entire nation,” Lim said “Honest disagreements should never descend into ridicule or ad hominem attacks.”
