People in small groups were seen standing under trees at multiple places on the footpath along the Ashoka Road, as rain started in the central Delhi areas. A couple of the groups were seen speaking to media persons on the footpath.Further on the Ashoka Road and Raisina Road, security personnel’s presence was seen around the Press Club of India, outside the Central Secretariat Metro station, and on the footpaths outside the Rail Bhawan and Shastri Bhawan. The roads leading to the Parliament were all barricaded. The anti-riots vehicles, police buses and vans and other four-wheelers and two-wheelers, were found stationed on the roads. However, except for some people standing on the bus stops, no signs of protesters were seen on the roads.The situation on other roads leading to Parliament and Jantar Mantar was similar. On the Connaught Place circle, a police vehicle (white Mahindra Scorpio) with a beacon a top was found standing damaged near the Regal Cinema. The windshield and windowpanes of the vehicle were damaged in the alleged stone pelting. Some people were seen standing around the vehicle, taking videos and photographs of the damaged police vehicle while no security personnel were present around. The road to Jantar Mantar through Tolstoy Road and Ashoka Road were also barricaded and police personnel present there were only allowing media persons to walk towards the protest venue, which was partially lit. Hundreds of protesters gathered around the stage, shouting slogans like “We want justice”, “Vande Mataram” and “Inquilab Zindabad”. Many of them were using their phones torch to keep the area lit.
